Cala Tarida Sunset: The West Coast Yacht Hour
Skip ahead — the office handles the rest
Cala Tarida sits five kilometres south-east of Cala Conta — same west-coast exposure, a third of the yacht traffic, a longer beach, and a wider bay that holds more boats without feeling crowded. For a sunset run with a flybridge that doesn't want to be photo-bombed by twenty other yachts, Cala Tarida wins.
The anchor
Centre of the bay, sandy bottom 7 – 16m. Excellent holding in W weather; tighter in the south of the bay where the depth drops fast. Mooring buoys available (€30 – €40) but most yachts anchor.
The light
West-facing — the sunset hits the cliffs to the south at the right angle from 18:00 onwards. The sun itself sets behind S'Espartar from October – April; in July, it sets to the right of the bay mouth. Both angles photograph well.
Shore options
- Cotton Beach Club — the premium dining option, reservations 2 weeks ahead
- Es Caliu — Spanish family-style, less reservation pressure
- Sunset Ashram (Cala Conta, 15 min by tender) for cocktails before dinner aboard
The pairing
Morning at Cala Conta, midday lunch ashore, transit to Cala Tarida by 17:30, sundowner on board until 21:00, motor home in the dark. Calm summer evening, no traffic on the run-in.
