Champagne Service on Ibiza Yachts: What's Actually Aboard
Skip ahead — the office handles the rest
Champagne on a charter yacht is the line item most guests assume is at the top tier when in reality it's one of three tiers. The standard provisioning runs one tier; a brief request can move it up two without a budget conversation. Below is what is actually aboard.
Standard provisioning (no brief)
Most flybridges run a default Champagne stock of Pol Roger Brut Reserve and Ruinart Blanc de Blancs. Both are AAA houses, both are stocked because they handle daytime drinking — moderate dosage, lower alcohol, less heavy than vintage bottlings. Expect 12 – 24 bottles aboard for a 7-night charter.
Mid tier (one-line brief)
With a brief to the office at quote time: add Dom Pérignon Vintage, Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, and a rosé (Ruinart Rosé or Billecart-Salmon Rosé). Standard ask, no premium pricing because the boat re-provisions on the morning of embarkation.
Premium (with budget)
- Krug Grande Cuvée — standard premium choice
- Salon Blanc de Blancs — for guests who know the difference (only available in vintage years)
- Cristal — the request that tells the office your week
- Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage — for the formal dinner aboard
The service
Chief stew opens at the table. Standard glassware: Riedel Sommelier Champagne. Temperature 7 – 9 °C, held in a Champagne cooler at the bar. The bottle stays on the table for the course; refills are poured by the stew rather than left for guests.
What to skip
- The marina bar order — service charges are triple, glassware is generic, the bottle has been sitting in stockroom heat for an hour
- Sweet or demi-sec on a hot day — the residual sugar reads heavy in 30°C heat
- Mixing Champagne with anything (mimosas, kirs, Aperol) on a yacht with proper bottlings — use prosecco for cocktails instead
