Yacht Charter Ibiza in September — The Office's Favourite Month
Direct answer
September in Ibiza is the office's favourite month: water still 24–25°C, weather settled at 25–28°C, anchorages 30–40% less crowded than August, rates 15–20% below peak. The day-boats begin to thin, the restaurants relax, the light turns warmer in the afternoons. Charter rates settle 2–3 weeks before; the popular yachts still book 4 weeks ahead.
When members ask the office which month to choose, the honest answer is almost always September. Particularly the second half: the children of August have returned to school, the closing-week-at-Pacha rush in early September has settled, and the island moves at a noticeably different pace.
What's different from August
- Water temperature still 24–25°C — full swimming season
- Air 25–28°C, occasionally 30°C — the most comfortable day
- Wind pattern similar to August but slightly less strong on average
- Anchorages 30–40% less crowded — the day-boat fleet thins
- Restaurant tables available at 24–48 hours' notice (vs. 6–8 weeks in August)
- Rates 15–20% below August on the same yacht
The light
September is the month the photographers come for. The mid-day light is less harsh than July; the late-afternoon golden hour is longer and more nuanced. The sundown at Es Vedrà between 19:30 and 20:30 in mid-September is, in our editorial opinion, the best of the year.
The closing-week effect
Many of the major Ibiza clubs close in mid-to-late September with well-known closing parties (Ushuaïa, Pacha, Hï). The first half of September can feel busier than the second; the third weekend onward is when the island genuinely calms.
What we recommend
A five- or seven-night charter starting around 15 September is the office's most-quoted format for returning clients. Weekly base rates are roughly 15% below August on the same vessel; the chef has more flexibility; the route choices are wider because the anchorages aren't under capacity.

Frequently asked
- Is the water cold in September in Ibiza?
- No. Mediterranean water lags the air by 4–6 weeks, so September water (24–25°C) is actually warmer than June water (21–23°C). Full swimming season.
- What about wind in September — is it more changeable?
- Slightly. The early-September weather is usually settled; the second half can see the occasional autumnal swing, but mostly 5–15 knots from south-west, calm mornings.
- Can we still get a Blue Marlin or Juan y Andrea table in September?
- Yes — usually within 24–48 hours' notice in mid-September, vs. 6–8 weeks in August. The office handles standing reservations either way.
