Private Chef on a Yacht in Ibiza — Who, What, How

·5 min read·Aurelius Society

Direct answer

Private chefs on Ibiza yacht charters fall into three tiers: day-charter chef (€350–€600 plus provisioning, typical for a sport boat with chef-on-board), full-time crewed-yacht chef (included in the rate on yachts 20m+), and guest chef (specific named Ibiza chefs or Michelin-starred names brought aboard for a single dinner, €1,200–€5,000+).

Adding a chef changes the yacht charter more than most clients expect. A boat with a chef on board is a different format: meals happen at anchor, the table is set on the aft deck, the day has a natural rhythm anchored by lunch and dinner. Without a chef, the day is a series of swims interrupted by sandwiches from the cooler. With a chef, the day is two unhurried meals built around the swims.

Three tiers of service

Day-charter chef (added to a sport boat)

€350–€600 for the chef's day rate plus provisioning at cost (typically €60–€90 per guest for a full menu). Best on yachts 15m and over with a functional galley. The chef prepares two courses for lunch, one or two snacks during the afternoon, and a small dinner if the day extends into the evening.

Full-time yacht chef (crewed yachts 20m+)

Included in the base charter rate on yachts 20 metres and over; provisioning paid through APA. Three meals a day plus afternoon canapés on multi-day charters. The chef is part of the crew, lives on board, and is briefed on your preferences a week before the charter.

Guest chef (named Ibiza or visiting chef)

The office can arrange specific named chefs from Ibiza restaurants for a single dinner aboard your yacht. Cost varies widely (€1,200–€5,000+ depending on the chef and party size). Used for special-occasion dinners — proposals, milestone birthdays, investor dinners.

Dietary requirements

Send the office your dietary requirements 7 days before the charter. We brief the chef directly. We routinely accommodate: kosher, halal, vegan, plant-forward, gluten-free, FODMAP, low- sodium, low-sugar, nut-free, allergy combinations. Nothing is asked at the table that hasn't already been planned for.

Frequently asked

Is the chef included in the yacht charter rate?
On yachts 20 metres and over, yes — the chef is part of the standard crew and their salary is in the rate. The provisioning (food cost) is paid via APA. On smaller dayboats, the chef is an optional add-on at €350–€600 plus provisioning.
Can we hire a named Ibiza chef for one dinner?
Yes — through the office's chef network. Cost varies by chef and party size. Most commonly arranged for proposal dinners, milestone birthdays and investor dinners.
Who shops for the food on a chartered yacht?
The chef and the bosun handle the marina-morning provisioning run; on multi-day charters there's often a mid-trip re-provision at Port d'Andratx or Port de Sóller. You see the receipts via the APA settlement at the end.
