A Birthday at Sea

Twelve to forty, the office plans the kind of birthday the harbour talks about.

A birthday on a yacht should not look like a nightclub on a yacht. The boat does the work for you — a long swim in a quiet cove, a chef serving a meal that takes its time, music the host has chosen personally. The dance floor on the bow, when it appears at sundown, is a punctuation mark, not the headline.

The office handles every detail of the day, from the cake (delivered in secret to the galley at 14:00) to the playlist (pre-paired to the boat's sound system before departure) to the photographer (booked for ninety minutes only — the welcome and the cake, then the day stays off-camera).

The office handles

Quietly,
in the background.

  • 01A cake from one of two pastry shops in Ibiza we have used for years — confirmed in writing with the host two weeks ahead
  • 02A bar set up on the aft deck with the host's three favourite spirits, and a stewardess who can make four classic cocktails without being asked
  • 03A pre-paired playlist plus an optional DJ in a separated booth with isolated power
  • 04Two paddle boards, snorkelling kit, a slide on the swim platform if the yacht has one
  • 05A photographer for ninety minutes only — welcome + cake — the rest of the day stays off-camera
  • 06Transfers from each guest's hotel or villa to the marina pontoon, with drivers on standby for the return

Questions we hear

Most-asked.

How many guests can we have on board for a birthday?+

Maritime regulations limit each yacht to a maximum of 12 guests. For larger parties (13–24+) we arrange a second yacht so the group sails together. The office handles the convoy and meets at a single anchorage.

Can the cake be a surprise?+

Yes — and most are. The cake is delivered in secret to the galley before the host arrives, and is presented at the moment of the host's choosing (usually sundown).

Do we need to book a DJ?+

Not unless you want one. Most birthdays we plan use a curated playlist on the boat's sound system. A DJ adds something if the party is 20+ guests and you want at least three hours of dancing — otherwise it's optional.

Can we extend the day if it's going well?+

Almost always. The captain will let you know how long the return needs and we can extend in 90-minute blocks. Most birthdays we run end up extending at least once.
