Tagomago Island Yacht Day: The Private Island Off Ibiza
Skip ahead — the office handles the rest
Tagomago is a private island four kilometres off the north-east coast of Ibiza, between Santa Eulària and Es Canar. The island is privately owned and houses a single villa; the surrounding waters are public, and one cove on the western (lee) side is one of the most rewarded anchorages on the island.
The cove
On the western side of the island, sheltered from the prevailing easterlies. Sandy bottom 8 – 18m deep, turquoise water, a single small beach landing. Capacity for six to eight yachts comfortably; ten on a tight day.
Getting there
Thirty minutes from Marina Botafoc on a sport boat; forty-five on a flybridge. From Santa Eulària, fifteen. The crossing is open water — confirm wind forecast before committing.
What you do once there
- Swim from the boat (the water is the cleanest off Ibiza)
- SUP around the island (full loop is 90 minutes)
- Snorkel the eastern (windward) side — better fish life, more dramatic rocks
- Lunch aboard; no shore restaurant access
Timing
Best day: midweek in June or September, arrive 10:00, stay until 17:00. The lee cove is reliably calm during easterly weather; in westerlies, the position reverses and the eastern side becomes anchor-able instead. Ask the captain on the morning briefing.
What you do not do
- Land on Tagomago itself (it is private property; no shore access)
- Anchor over the seagrass meadows on the south side (protected marine habitat)
- Stay overnight in westerly weather (the lee becomes exposed)
