Atlantis · Sa Pedrera
A hidden limestone quarry cove south of Es Vedrà. No road access, twelve-metre visibility — the cleanest swim in the Pitiusas.
tlantis — officially Sa Pedrera de Cala d'Hort — is the limestone quarry cove cut into the cliffs south of Es Vedrà. The Romans took building stone from here two thousand years ago; the cuts they left are now an extraordinary geological backdrop to swimming water that holds twelve-metre visibility on a still day. There is no road to Atlantis; you arrive by yacht, by foot from Es Cubells (90 minutes), or not at all.
The anchorage is awkward — narrow, deep, and exposed to any southerly. We come in the morning when the wind is calm, drop anchor in 18m on the seaward side, and tender the guests in to the rocks for the swim. By 13:00 we move on — usually around the corner to Es Vedrà for lunch.

Questions we hear
Atlantis · Sa Pedrera — answered.
Why is it called Atlantis?+
An informal name from local boatmen and Ibizan mythology — there is no archaeological link to the legendary Atlantis. The Romans quarried building stone here in the first century; the geological features they left, when seen from the water, suggested 'a sunken city' to early visitors.
Can we anchor there overnight?+
No — the anchorage is too narrow and too exposed to southerlies. We visit only as a morning stop and move on to Es Vedrà or Cala d'Hort for the night.
