Infinity, Heated, Salt: Ibiza Villa Pool Types Explained
Direct answer
Ibiza luxury villas come with five common pool formats: infinity (visual hero), heated (May/October swim), salt (skin-friendly), freshwater (most common, chlorinated), and lap (rare, focused on swimmers). Casa Caleta has two infinity pools; Can Furnet 2 has heated; most others use freshwater.
The pool decides more of the day than people expect. Below is how to read what's actually offered.
Infinity
The hero of the photograph. Edge drops away into the view. Best when paired with a sea or hill horizon. Visually exceptional but fundamentally a freshwater pool — water quality is the same. In our collection: both pools at Casa Caleta are infinity (one east-facing, one west-facing for sunset); Villa Sea & Breathe has one; Can Furnet 2's pool is infinity-edge with a Jacuzzi adjacent.
Heated
A heating element keeps water at 26–28°C even when the air drops. The difference between "swim May–September" and "swim April–October". Useful for shoulder-season stays. Operating cost: roughly €30–€80/day on top of the rental. Can Furnet 2 includes heated pool as standard.
Salt water
Lower chlorine, gentler on skin and eyes. Filtration adds salt which gets converted to chlorine on demand. Some clients feel it's closer to swimming in the sea. More common in newer and refurbished villas.
Freshwater (chlorinated)
The default. Standard chlorine treatment, well-managed by the pool service. Crystal-clear water, easy maintenance. Indistinguishable from salt water for most guests after the first day.
Lap pools
Rare in Ibiza villa rentals — narrow, long, designed for swimming exercise. Most luxury rentals optimise for visual presence, not lap distance.
Pool sizes worth knowing
- Casa Caleta: two infinity pools (a primary at ~80 m², a smaller second at ~30 m²)
- Villa Sea & Breathe: large infinity, sea-view orientation
- Can Furnet 2: heated infinity-edge with Jacuzzi
- Villa Sant Jordi: 90 m² rectangular pool with stone tower garden
Practical notes
Pool service is daily on all four villas. Heating, where available, is on by default for guest stays in May, October and off-peak. Chemical balance is checked twice daily on larger estates.
